WILCOX COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) – In an emotional show of support for the community, family and law enforcement colleagues of the late Wilcox County Sheriff Robert Rodgers, officers and deputies from across the state lined up to pick up Sheriff Rodgers from the GBI Crime Lab .
Sheriff Rodgers was responding to a call when he was killed in a car accident on Highway 233 Tuesday afternoon, according to Wilcox County Coroner Janice Brown.
Details of the funeral arrangement are not yet available but will be announced once final arrangements have been made, according to Major Mitchell Thompson.
Sheriff Rodgers’ family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes Foundation.
