Georgia Lee King
November 15, 1959 – October 1, 2023
BUTTE – Georgia Lee King passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Georgia lost her incredibly courageous battle with cancer. She truly was our warrior and gave it her all.
Georgia was born in Butte, Montana, the sixth of seven children of Theodore “Ted” Shupe and Wilma Jean Johnson. She attended Butte High School and completed her GED in 1978.
Georgia met the love of her life, Chris King, in 1976. The two fell deeply in love and never looked back. There was no one without the other. They welcomed their son Christopher in 1977 and a daughter, Sharon, in 1980.
Georgia was a baker at Safeway for 23 years and was incredibly proud to be one of the last bakers there from scratch. Chris and Georgia met many of their long-time friends at Safeway and could be found having dinner with the “clan” almost every Friday night.
Grandparenting Peyton, Olivia, August and Asher was a highlight of Georgia’s life. Her refrigerator full of pictures of her grandchildren brought her great joy.
Camping and attending car shows with her husband (whom she affectionately called “Chumpie”) were also among her favorite activities. She enjoyed being outdoors and did so until she could no longer do so.
Georgia’s trip of a lifetime was when she and “Chumpie” traveled to Hawaii for their 40th wedding anniversary. Hawaii was at the top of her bucket list and she was so happy that she and Chris had the opportunity to spend ten days in paradise together. Chris and Georgia were together for forty-seven years. They were truly “peas and carrots” and best friends forever. They would always sit on the couch and watch a movie holding hands, and every goodbye was answered with an “I love you.”
Georgia’s mother, Wilma Johnson, dies; father, Theodore “Ted” Shupe; sister, Sharon Kingston; mother-in-law Arlene Orr and father-in-law Jerry King; Sister-in-law: Danette King and Pam Johnson.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Chris King; son Christopher King (Melissa Smith); daughter Sharon (Levi) Queer; Sisters: Rose(Dan) Shea, Della Shupe, Dottie Nichols; Brothers: Ted (Evelyn) Shupe and Jake (Rosalie) Johnson; brother-in-law, Tony(Pam) King; sisters-in-law: Jackie, Adrienne and Connie King, Angela (Mike) McLean; Grandchildren: Peyton and Olivia King and August and Asher Sutey, as well as many loving nephews and nieces.
Georgia is incredibly loved and deeply missed by all of us, but we believe in the promise that we will see her again. Until then, a beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother will be remembered in our hearts.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel.
