Georgia is changing rules for admission and residence for citizens of 17 countries – civil ge orgies

The Georgian dream government has issued a decree that changes the rules for admission and stay for citizens of 17 countries.

The list includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ghana, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Yemen, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

From May 16, 2025, the citizens of these countries can enter new regulations and remain in Georgia if they have a visa or residence permit from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi -Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Oman. The document must be valid at least one year before arrival.

Update: Since then, the Ministry of the Interior has given an explanation of the new regulations that media organizations incorrectly interpreted it as a relaxation of the Visa regime for certain foreign nationals.

The explanation also states: “According to the wording of the decisions before the changes, the citizens of the listed countries had the right to enter in Georgia, even before the changes were made if they had a visa or residence permit from the Goländer, although the validity period of the visa was not determined, the requirements for the countries mentioned were therefore stuck.”

The MIA declaration also states: “Owner of Visa and/or residence permits, which the Gulf States have given, no longer have the right to enter and stay without visa in Georgia, if the validity of the multiple urgent visa and/or residence permit in Georgia is less than a year on the day of its entry (border crossing) in Georgia, which is less than a year. Relevance permit is.

Correction: Our first news title: “Georgia grants the citizens of 17 countries a conditional visa entry” could be misleading. We have changed it according to the MIA declaration.
