Georgia H. Bebee WEST RUPERT – Georgia H. Bebee, 91, of West Rupert, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 6, 2021. Our mother was born on December 22, 1929 in Wells, Vermont. She was the daughter of the late George and Lena (Batease) Hadaway. She attended school in Rupert / West Rupert. As an adult, she worked at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, New York before working as a printer at Sherwood Medical in Argyle and retiring in the 1990s after 27 years of service. She attended the Church of Christ in West Rupert and was a member of the Rupert Leisures. She loved sitting on her porch and watching the traffic. She loved reading novels, going for walks, baking goodies, and hanging out with family and a few close friends. She particularly enjoyed the Rupert Old Home Days celebrations each August and the rides, which hopefully included a lunch break at one of her favorite restaurants. She died on February 16, 1998 from her 50-year-old husband, Arnold Bebee Sr .; by a special niece, Marcia (2019); our father’s sister, Martha (2021); and by a little brother and four sisters and their spouses. She was particularly close to her sister and brother-in-law Ruby and Howard Chapman, who died before her in 2019 and were both in their early 90s. Mom was the youngest in her family and the last of her siblings to die. She is survived by her son Arnold Jr. from Wallingford; her daughter and son-in-law Vivian and Larry from Rutland; her daughter, Cynthia of West Rupert; a niece, Bonnie Trout, of Sunderland; and nephews, Wilson (Carley) Chapman, Fort Edward, New York, and Howard (Valerie) Chapman, Salem, New York; as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews too numerous to mention here. Mom was loved very much and is sorely missed by those of us who knew her best. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Wells Cemetery, Route 30, Wells, Vermont, under the direction of Pastor Paul Mychack. The family respectfully asks those present to wear a mask. Memorial donations to remember Georgia can be made to the Salem Rescue Squad, PO Box 360, Salem, NY 12865; the Rupert Fire Dept., PO Box 68, West Rupert, VT 05776; or the Second Chance Animal Center, 1779 VT Route 30, Arlington, VT 05250.
