GEORGIA (WRBL) – A Georgia man described by federal authorities as a “repeat offender” has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in a count of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl in Paulding County. The man, a former postal worker, received a concurrent prison sentence for sexually abusing the girl and possessing mail he stole at work.
According to an FBI press release, on August 29, 2022, 60-year-old Stacy Keith Wisener was sentenced to 30 years in prison by US District Judge Mark H. Cohen on charges of federal child exploitation and possession of stolen mail. The conviction is to be followed by life imprisonment. According to the press release, he was also ordered to pay $175,000 in damages, a $5,200 special assessment and forfeit his home as property he had used to produce child sexual abuse images .
Dallas resident Wisener previously pleaded guilty to the charges on April 29, 2022.
“This conviction, which will likely result in life behind bars, is a critical step in protecting those most vulnerable to predators like Wisener,” said Acting Special Agent Scott Pierce, USPS Office of Inspector General, Southern Area Field Office .
Evidence presented by prosecutors showed Wisener repeatedly sexually harassed the victim and routinely photographed and videoed himself assaulting her for four years.
According to prosecutors, Wisener began sexually abusing the child in 2017 when she was 11, just months after a judge granted his request to be removed from Georgia’s sex offenders register. He was added to the list after pleading guilty to molesting another child under the age of 16 in 2003. Wisener was given a suspended sentence rather than jail for this crime.
“This defendant wasted a second chance after being removed from the sex offender register by re-offending, this time with far more egregious crimes,” said John Melvin, deputy director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Prosecutors said in October 2021 the victim reported the abuse to her parents and local law enforcement. A search warrant was issued and Wisener’s home, where many of the assaults took place, was searched by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
During the search, deputies seized numerous items related to the case, including hard drives, flash drives, SD cards, micro SD cards, and CDs. A camera, video camera and computer were also confiscated. According to prosecutors, many of the confiscated devices contained images or videos of child sexual abuse in which Wisener molested the victim.
During the search, the deputies found thousands of unopened pieces of mail that were not addressed to Wisener. The items were stolen from the Postal Service’s processing and distribution facility on Crown Road in Atlanta, prosecutors said.
“It is difficult to measure the pain and suffering endured by this victim. This case serves as an example of the FBI’s and our partners’ commitment to bringing despicable predators to justice who exploit vulnerable children for their own gratification,” said Keri Farley, the FBI’s Atlanta Special Agent in Charge.
