Georgia Ethics Council cracks down on groups linked to Stacey Abrams

Georgia’s Ethics Committee will continue a case against a group founded by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, saying it likely violated campaign law when she first ran for governor four years ago.

The commission targets the New Georgia Project, a non-profit voter registration organization founded by Abrams in 2013, and an affiliate, the New Georgia Project Action Fund. The commission on Monday unanimously approved a series of motions that said there were “reasonable reasons that the New Georgia Project and the New Georgia Project Action Fund violated the Campaign Finance Act.”
