(LINEVILLE) Georgia Ellon Morrison Hendon (88) from Lineville’s funeral took place on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Bro. Ron McKeever officiates. The burial took place in the Barfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Hendon died Thursday, January 21, at Lineville Health & Rehab.
Born in Randolph County, she graduated from Randolph County High School in 1949 and has lived in Clay County since 1953. A loving woman, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Hendon was a seamstress who loved to sew, quilt, embroider, and cross curtains. She was a great cook and loved being able to and gardening. A woman of many professions, she worked as an accountant for Coca-Cola, ran the Lineville School cafeteria, and taught Sunday school at Barfield Baptist Church for over 40 years. But Mrs. Hendon’s favorite job was being a mother. She was a member of the Barfield Baptist Church.
She is survived by her 69 year old husband, Alton Davis Hendon of Lineville; Children, Scott Hendon (Dianne) from Cullman, Sherry H. Wood (Russell) from Florence, Stanley Hendon (Melinda) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Stuart Hendon (Gerri) from Montgomery; Sister Elizabeth Cole (Charles) of Gadsden; two sisters-in-law, Wylene Morrison from Bynum and Johann Hendon from Chattanooga; Brother Braden Morrison (Mary) of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Andrea Tew (David), Candace LeMay (Dale), Joshua Hendon (Taylor), Russell Wood Jr., Samuel Wood, Brock Hendon, and Mary Braden Hendon; three great-grandchildren, Adeline and June LeMay, John Tew and one more on the way, Anna Katherine Tew; a variety of nieces, nephews, and extended families. Her parents, Grady and Hattie Morrison, had preceded her death. Brother godfather Morrison; Brother-in-law Hardy Hendon; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, W. Davis and Mae Hendon.
Mrs. Hendon’s grandsons served as pallbearers.
