Atlanta, GA. (Atlanta News First) – State democrats draw attention to the working conditions for Georgia Warehouse employees.
Rep. Kim Schofield, local legislator and supporter of the Georgia Warehouse Workplace Protection Act (HB 16) discussed the draft law during a press conference on Monday about the steps of state capitol.
The legislation calls for reduced work speed rates, possibilities for eliminating work -related injuries and the promotion of paid breaks.
It happens that large retailers increase production to satisfy consumers' demand – something that critics said has led to additional pressure on the employees.
“We are starting to build up support for this bill, and the employees will meet directly with legislators during our upcoming lobby day,” said Schofield. “The National Warehouse Worker Protection Act has received non -partisan support and shows that these problems vibrate across party borders. We are optimistic to continue to build dynamics and to have productive conversations with legislators from both sides of the Ganges.”
