According to the U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission Thursday, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta allegedly fired a maintenance assistant for requesting a religious exemption from its influenza vaccination policy.
The maintenance worker allegedly followed the hospital’s procedures when he requested a religious exemption from his flu vaccination requirements, the EEOC said. The hospital previously granted the employee a religious exemption in 2017 and 2018, but denied the request and fired the employee in 2019, the agency said.
