Georgia Chemical Company Cited After Worker Suffers Fatal Burns

The U.S. Department of Labor announced on Friday that OSHA has issued a notice to Chemical Products Corp. proposed a $55,403 fine and issued citations for five serious violations after an employee suffered fatal chemical and thermal burns in Georgia.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration determined that the employee, who had been on the job for two months, opened an air intake valve to investigate a noise coming from a steam-lined barium sulfide wash cone that had been left open the day before in the department .
