Georgia Caregivers Act: What it means
The Georgia Caregivers Act went into effect on July 1, 2022. The new law helps caregivers when their loved ones need to be hospitalized and return home. It ensures that hospitals:
♥ IDENTIFY the name of a caregiver if the loved one is admitted to hospital
♥ Notify the caregiver family when the relative is discharged
♥ TEACH the caregiver the medical tasks that need to be performed at home such as medication management, injections, wound care, and transfers.
AARP Georgia went to work at the Gold Dome to make the Caregivers Act a reality because supporting caregivers is a top priority for all of us.
