Georgia Berniece Cordell Beaty, 92, died November 18, 2023 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Georgia was born in Turley, Tennessee and lived in Fort Pierce for more than 70 years. In 1952 she married the love of her life, Ima, and began raising a family.
Ms. Beaty worked as a cafeteria baker for the St. Lucie Public Schools and was known for her homemade delicacies, including Coca-Cola cake and carrot cake, peanut butter cake, yeast rolls and many others. She was a Christian and attended First Baptist Church in Fort Pierce and Fairlawn Baptist Church.
She loved quilting and cooking and loved having a house full of family and friends every day to enjoy a full southern dinner at lunchtime. She was an avid bingo player and loved lottery and scratch cards of all kinds. Above all, she loved watching game shows such as “Let’s Make A Deal”, “The Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune”. But nothing stood in the way of her “stories” every afternoon, which included The Young & The Restless, The Bold & The Beautiful and Westerns like Gunsmoke. She believed that witch hazel was the cure for any injury and it is believed that she had a supply of safety pins as she used them everywhere.
Survivors include sister Bonnie Cordell Brewster and brother Paul Cordell, son and daughter-in-law Vernon “Allan” and Mary Beaty, son and daughter-in-law Victor and Linda Beaty, son and daughter-in-law Roger and Laura Beaty, and daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Mike Flinn; grandchildren Deborah Marquez, Matthew and Kathy Beaty, Moses and Michelle Beaty, Bryan & Casey Beaty, Douglas and Jessie Beaty, Kathryn and Michael Ivey, Wade Beaty, Travis Flinn and Kelsey Beaty; and great-grandchildren Julian Marquez, Daisy Marquez, Logan Beaty, Katelyn Beaty, Nik Beaty, Megan Drawbaugh, Mia Beaty and Sophia Davis; and a great-great-grandchild, Barrett Beaty.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ima O. Beaty, her parents Luther and Ethel Marie Cordell, her brothers Harold Cordell, Robert Cordell, Luther Cordell and Clayton Cordell, and her sisters Juanita Cordell, Attress Cordell Bullock, Mary Cordell Charmichael, Pernia Cordell Cardell and Stella Cordell McNeely; and grandson Mike Padgett.
