On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express my condolences to the family, colleagues, and many friends of Marissa McCall Dodson, attorney general, public policy director for the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta, following her very early death on May 21st.
Ms. Dodson has been a member of the Georgia Bar since 2008 and began her legal career with the Georgia Justice Project before joining the Southern Center in 2016. She has been a force in the advocacy for criminal justice reform in our state. Their tireless efforts won the respect of Georgian lawmakers on both sides of the political corridor as well as the judges involved in the reform process. During this year’s General Assembly session, Ms. Dodson was instrumental in drafting and advocating laws to repeal the Law on Arresting Citizens in our state.
