(CNN) — A man was arrested Tuesday at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after punching a Southwest Airlines employee, police said. A social media video of the incident shows Courtney Drummond screaming as he approaches a counter and punches an employee. The video also shows how several employees intervene. In a statement, the Atlanta Police Department said Drummond refused to meet flight attendants when a Southwest flight was taxied from the gate to the tarmac.

Police said Drummond was ordered to exit the flight after the plane was forced to return to the gate due to his “aggressive behavior”.
“After being escorted off the plane, Mr. Drummond repeatedly threatened and eventually assaulted a Southwest Gate agent,” police said.
Drummond was arrested on charges of simple battery, battery and obstruction and sent to the Clayton County Jail.
“Southwest Airlines will not tolerate attacks of any kind against our employees or customers,” the statement said. “As a result of this inexcusable attack, the individual was banned from flying on Southwest Airlines,” Southwest Airlines said in a statement.
Southwest Airlines also commended the actions of its employees “who have responded to protect their colleagues during this unacceptable event” and thanked law enforcement for their response.
Drummond’s mother, Gwendolyn Foster, confirmed to CNN that her son is still being held in Georgia and apologized for the incident.
“My heart goes out to all of the Southwest employees – they are in my prayers. I’m sorry this happened and this was caused by him,” Foster said. “He comes from a religious family. My husband is pastor of a church here.”
Foster said the family regretted the incident and was “very hurt.”
“I pray in due course that God will heal all wounds and let us move on and continue to love each other as God loves us,” Foster said.
