Flags are lowered to half staff at the Georgia State Capitol and Jackson County today in honor of Jackson County’s Deputy Lena Marshall. Her funeral is scheduled for two o’clock this afternoon at Free Chapel Church in Braselton.
Jefferson Deputy Marshall, 49, was shot dead on the evening of November 5th while answering a home call. She died of her wounds three days later.
Police officers from across the state will be in Jackson County for the funeral. They will lead a 16-mile procession from the funeral home to the church, leaving the sheriff’s office on Monday lunchtime. The procession heads over Highways 15 and 11 through the city of Jefferson to Highway 124, past the intersection with Highway 53 before ending at Free Chapel. A North Carolina State Patrol caisson unit will carry the Deputy Marshall’s coffin in the procession.
