Georgian police arrested 16 people on administrative offenses at a protest rally in front of the Kvareli Lake resort in eastern Georgia, local media outlet Interpressnews said on Saturday.
The demonstrations followed information spread on Friday by Georgia-based broadcaster Mtavari Arkhi and opposition Droa party leader Elene Khoshtaria, who claimed that the sanctioned Russian official Lavrov’s daughter and her husband were staying at the Kvareli Lake resort and hotel Would be hosting wedding party of Lavrov’s family members.
According to the organizers of the rally, the opposition party United National Movement, “more than ten” people, including party members and civil activists, were arrested during the rally, which broke out into physical altercations between police forces and protesters.
The Kvareli Lake Resort later on Friday issued a statement regarding the alleged allegations, dismissing them as “misinformation” and stating that no guests under the Lavrov name were staying at the hotel.
