Donald Trump’s former White House chief of staff Mark Meadowshas’ attempt to move his election interference case in Georgia to federal court has been postponed by a judge.
It could also be a bad sign for the former president, who on Thursday told the judge overseeing the sprawling extortion case in Fulton County that he “may” also seek to move the case to federal court.
Previously, the Fulton County Grand Jury’s special report on election interference was released, which included a list of Donald Trump allies who were recommended for indictment but had escaped indictment by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
The list includes Senator Lindsey Graham, General Michael Flynn, former Senator Kelly Loeffler, former Senator David Perdue and Boris Epshteyn.
There may also be further clues to the likely identities of the 30 so-called “unindicted co-conspirators” who were not named in the indictment.
Meanwhile, Mr. Trump has filed a motion in his criminal case in Georgia telling a judge that he “may” request that his trial be sent back to federal court — the first step in the long process, a dismissal based on protected executive status to apply for activity.
Mr. Trump and others involved in the case want to argue that their involvement in the effort to change the election results in the swing state was part of their official duties.
The former president will travel to South Dakota on Friday for a party fundraiser that will also provide the state’s governor, Kristi Noem, with an opportunity to pitch herself as a potential vice president.

Could the South Dakota governor become Trump’s running mate?
Donald Trump will travel to South Dakota on Friday for a party fundraiser that will also offer the state’s governor, Kristi Noem, an opportunity to showcase herself as a potential vice president, two senior Republicans familiar with her told The Associated Press.
Mr. Trump will join the South Dakota Republican Party for a “Monumental Leaders Rally” in Rapid City.
Ms. Noem will appear alongside the former president and is expected to support him, creating an image of the couple that Noem’s allies hope will look like a presidential ticket, according to two senior Republicans familiar with their thinking and condition spoke on the condition of anonymity because she hadn’t done so, but she still made her support public.

Trump publishes article calling him “un-Christian” for sexual assault on Jean Carroll and affair with Stormy Daniels
Former President Donald Trump, who was recently blamed for the second time for defaming E. Jean Carroll over his sexual assault on her, published an article slamming him for his attack on her and his alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels described it as “un-Christian”.
On Truth Social, Mr. Trump shared a Milwaukee Independent article titled “A MAGA Idol: Why Trump’s Unchristian Behavior Makes Him a Hero to Conservative Christians.”
The article shows a picture of the former president holding a Bible with his eyes closed in front of St. John’s Parish House.
“For eight years, Donald Trump has managed to win the support of many evangelical and conservative Christians, even though his behavior has often contradicted the teachings Christ espouses in the Gospels,” the article began.
The article says he is the 2024 GOP front-runner “even after he was recently convicted of sexually abusing a New York woman in 1996 and charged in a criminal case related to hush money payments to a porn actress.”

Texas AG Ken Paxton claims his fellow Republicans plotted to oust him
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has long dismissed corruption allegations that have dogged him for years. But as his impeachment trial begins, another defense is emerging: that his fellow Republicans plotted to overthrow him.
His lawyers have so far presented no evidence in the trial, which continued Thursday, that Paxton was the victim of an attempt to replace him. But as former aides testify about how Paxton pressured them to help a political donor under investigation by the FBI, Paxton’s lawyers have raised questions about lobbyists and a meeting at Gov. Greg Abbott’s office and brought up George P. Bush , who lost to Paxton in last year’s Republican primary.
“It wasn’t a mutiny,” Ryan Bangert, one of Paxton’s former employees, testified Thursday of a group of deputies who reported their boss to the FBI in 2020. “We protected the interests of the state and the interests of the lawyer general and, in my opinion, at the same time signing our professional death warrant.”

Voices: Nancy Pelosi’s latest move changed the game
“After months of speculation about her next move, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just announced she is running for re-election in 2024.
The legendary California lawmaker, who turned 83 this year, has been in Congress for 36 years, led the House Democratic caucus for 20 years and was the first female speaker of the House. With the awarding of the honorary title of Speaker Emeritus, Pelosi’s announcement now clears the potential primary field and puts her on the path to almost certain re-election.”

Abortion rights in Florida are at stake as the state Supreme Court challenges Republican-led restrictions
The fate of abortion rights in Florida hangs in the balance Friday morning when the state Supreme Court is expected to accept a challenge to a law that bans the procedure in most cases after 15 weeks of pregnancy, a ban signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis come into effect.
The seven justices — including five conservatives appointed by DeSantis, a Republican presidential candidate — will hear oral arguments in Tallahassee in the lawsuit brought by Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union and others.
They claim that the Privacy Clause of the Florida Constitution has expressly protected the right to abortion in the state for more than 40 years.
“Plain text and historical context leave no doubt that Florida’s Privacy Clause protects against government interference in all aspects of a person’s private life, including decisions about pregnancy,” the plaintiffs say in court papers.
Florida officials claim the Supreme Court has mistakenly concluded in the past that the Privacy Clause covers abortion rights when it was actually intended more as a protection for “information privacy, such as the disclosure of private facts.”
