Colorado judge orders Trump’s legal adviser to appear in Georgia probe

A Colorado judge has ordered attorney Jenna Ellis to travel to testify before Georgia’s special jury investigating whether former President Trump attempted to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

Judge Gregory Lammons of Colorado’s 8th Circuit approved a motion to compel Ellis to travel from her home in Colorado to Georgia to testify, CNN reported Tuesday.

Ellis was subpoenaed in July along with several other Trump allies and legal advisers, including Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman and Cleta Mitchell.

The July subpoena shared by Georgia Public Broadcasting identifies Ellis as “an attorney for the Trump campaign’s legal efforts aimed at influencing the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.”

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) found actions by Ellis that “appear to be part of a multi-state coordinated Trump campaign plan to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.” .

Ellis reportedly authored memos pointing out that the subpoena required then-Vice President Mike Pence to disregard congressional-approved electoral college votes for “disputed” states like Georgia.

Willis also noted a December 2020 appearance by Ellis before the Georgia Senate, in which she shared a video “allegedly showing poll workers making ‘cases’ of illegal ballots from unknown sources, out of sight of poll observers.”

The video was discredited shortly thereafter and the fraud allegations were dismissed, but the subpoena alleges Ellis continued to press voter fraud allegations.

Trump’s GOP electors are calling for Atlanta-area prosecutor Giuliani to be barred from 2020 election probe after being told he is the target of the election probe: “We’re starting to live in a fascist state.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (RS.C.), Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.), Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) has also been subpoenaed to appear before Georgia’s special jury.

Former New York City Mayor Giuliani was informed Monday that he is the focus of the investigation and testimony is expected later this week.

The Hill has contacted Willis in Georgia and the 8th Circuit of Colorado for additional information.
