It was the first operation that was carried out as part of a contract contract signed by the state last November for the provision of Charter aircraft for these purposes.

Further operations will be carried out in the course of the year.

Gardai said that the operation led to 32 people, of whom 28 men, three women and one child were.

The distant child is part of a family group: a father, a mother and a child.

In RTés Morgen Ireland, Mr. O'Callaghan described the operation as an important priority in his department for a “more effective immigration system” in Ireland.

He said, “I think it is very important that the message will go out that you have to leave Ireland if you are in Ireland and if you do not voluntarily do this.

“Effective immigration system”

“I don't feel like it. I don't enjoy it. But it is part of my function as Minister of Justice because we have an effective immigration system.”

The people affected were Georgian citizens and the flight left Dublin Airport on Thursday evening and ended up in Tbilisa this morning, Georgia.

The returnees were accompanied on the flight by Garda staff, medical staff, an interpreter and a human rights observer.

Georgia was one of the five best countries looking for asylum in Ireland, but after a recent review it was called a safe country.

The charter flight was an A320 and cost the state € 102,476.

Mr. O'Callaghan added: “A deportation command is a very serious document that everyone can receive. If you stay in the country after you have been delivered with the deportation order, you commit a crime. The Gardai is entitled to arrest people who are in the country and to be subject to deportation order.

“The purpose of this is not only to ensure that our immigration system works lawfully, but as you know that there is a lot of pressure on accommodation.

“Don't come to Ireland”

“I think we have to make sure that, if we try to reduce this pressure, we are generally informed by people who come from countries that you are looking for as if you are looking for asylum in Ireland, the likelihood that she refuses to achieve an asylum if you are looking for it from Georgia.

“Last year 18,500 people advertised in Ireland asylum. It is important that we receive control over the numbers. The message that has a lead is when you are looking for international protection if you are looking for asylum and are not entitled to asylum, do not come to Ireland.”

Mr. O'Callaghan also said that the number of deportation orders has increased by over 200 percent this year.

By February 16, 232 people have left the state under various mechanisms, including forced deportation.

Drew Harris, Commissioner Drew Harris, said: “Yesterday, the Garda National Immigration Bureau of a Garda Síochána carried out the removal of 32 people from Ireland to Georgia in a planned operation.

“Largest removal”

“This was the largest distance surgery of Gnib for over 6 years. A Garda Síochána continues to play his role in enforcing immigration legislation and maintaining the security and integrity of our borders.

“I would like to thank all members of a Garda Síochána who is involved in the planning and implementation of this significant operation, especially those who are involved in the clarification and search for these people.”

The department stated that charter flights offer an alternative to commercial lies and may be more appropriate if a group of people is removed to the same goal.

Forced distances are carried out as a measure of the “last way out” if the person concerned has not removed from the state or have used voluntary return measures.

Foreign Minister for Migration Colm Brophy TD added: “Chartered deportation flights will now be an important part of the removal of people who have no right to stay in our country.

“I welcome this process and thank the Gardai and all employees who are involved in their success.

“I look forward to seeing chartered flights in connection with voluntary deportations to ensure that we have a fixed and effective system to deal with future deportations.”
