Mrs. Bobbie Jo Melton Morris, 89, of Rome, Georgia, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at a health facility in Calhoun.
Ms. Morris was born November 16, 1934 in Floyd County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Harvey Dudley Melton and the late Katherine Ruth Elizabeth Hammonds Melton. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jo Morris, her granddaughter Ashley Morris, her first husband “Big Jim” Morris and her second husband John Ashley. Ms. Morris was a graduate of Pepperell High School and went on to receive her certification in Interior Design. She worked as an interior designer for over 35 years and retired from Fricks Furniture. Ms. Morris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindale. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach and lake, and being with her family and friends. Halloween was one of her favorites, but all holidays were special to her.
Survivors include her husband, James C. “Bud” Ware; 3 children, James L. “Little Jim” Morris, Jr., Silver Creek, Johnny Morris (Tracey), Adairsville, and Connie Morris, Chattanooga; a sister, Kaye Melton Green (Jerry), Lindale; a brother, Donald “Sack” Melton, Cedartown; 4 grandchildren, Dudley Morris, Kristina Maddox, Tyler Morris and Makaylie Morris; 5 great-grandchildren, Bella Boswell, Bryn Boswell, Bea Boswell, Orion Peterkin and Atlas Peterkin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, Ms. Morris will be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. Mr. Barry Henderson will conduct the service.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, Ms. Morris requested memorial donations be made to Vision Rehab Service.
