You are hereby requested, in person or by an attorney, to appear in Rockdale County Juvenile Court for a hearing at Rockdale County Juvenile Court, 922 Court Street, Room 103, Conyers, Georgia 30012, on November 8th, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. , then and there to answer the ministry’s petition to end parental rights and why the ministry’s prayers for discharge should not be granted. The factual findings and orders made after the preliminary hearing become the final decision of this court, unless the parents appear at the last hearing. The final hearing is only for the parents who do not appear for the preliminary hearing in person or through an attorney. That, based on this injunction for service by publication dated 13th, at PO Box 52, Covington, GA 30015, you will respond to the request for termination of parental rights within sixty (60) days of the date of the notice for service by publication . NOTICE OF THE EFFECT OF THE TERMINATION JUDGMENT Georgia law provides that you could permanently lose your rights as a parent. A petition has been tabled to end parental rights asking the court to end your parental rights over your children. A copy of the Ending Parental Rights Request in respect of the above children can be obtained from the Secretariat office in the Rockdale County Courthouse during business hours. The trial (s) of your case have been scheduled by this court at the location, date and time specified above. If you fail to appear, the court can terminate your parental rights in your absence. If at the main hearing the court finds that the facts set out in the request for termination of parental rights are true and that the termination of your rights is in the best interests of your children, the court may give a judgment that will terminate your rights in your children. If the judgment expires your parental rights, you will no longer have rights over your children. This means that you do not have the right to visit, contact or have custody of your children or to make decisions that affect your children or your children’s income or property. Your children will be legally released to be adopted by someone else. Even if your parental rights are terminated: (1) you are responsible for financial support (child benefit) to look after your children unless and until your children are adopted; and (2) your children can continue to inherit from you unless and until your children are adopted. You are legally advised that as a father you can lose all rights to your above-mentioned child (ren) and are not entitled to object to the termination of your rights to this child (ren), unless Within 30 days of receiving notification, you will submit: (1) An application for identification of such child (s); and (2) notification of the submission of the application for legitimation to the court in which the termination of the parental rights proceedings is pending. This is very serious business. You should contact a lawyer immediately so you can prepare for the trial. You have the right to hire a lawyer and to be represented by him. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, the court will appoint an attorney if the court determines that you are a destitute person. Whether or not you choose to hire a lawyer, you have the right to attend the hearing of your case, to summon witnesses on your behalf, and to interrogate those witnesses brought against you.
