SI’s Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger and Pat Forde discuss all the major headlines from the third session of the SEC Media Days.
To start off, Dan revels in the fact that Nick Saban reluctantly took a vacation to Italy with his wife to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Nick Saban also provided a throwback to the country as only the grouchy Alabama coach could.
On the Crimson Tide’s football page, the podcast reflects on how they can keep up with Georgia given their unproven quarterback space. Georgia’s rise and dominance has also pushed the topic of a possible third championship in three years. Coaches and reporters across the country have noted that the 2020s have been Georgia’s decade and the pace doesn’t seem to be slowing.
In other news from Georgia, her stubborn defense of an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article has led to article revisions and the firing of reporter Alan Judd.
Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman continued to wow during the media days when he gave a memorable response when asked about a niche Minnesota beer.
Mississippi State’s new head coach, Zach Arnett, impressed on the podium with a keen media sympathy. The Bulldogs continue to have a tough schedule, but Arnett is confident about the program’s direction.
In the West, the biggest Pac-12 news is that there is no news. The announcement of the television/media rights deal has been delayed another month.
Chicago law firms are dealing with a variety of lawsuits related to the Northwest harassment scandal. Players, admins and Pat Fitzgerald are reaching out to the attorneys to make their points known.
In closing, the podcast takes a look back at the 2023 college football all-name team, and Jim Mora may have the answer to a very important question.
