TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, Sept. 5, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ — Family-run online nursery Perfect Plants is drawing attention to the devastation facing families following Hurricane Idalia, which destroyed the Rowan family’s home and vehicles in South Georgia just a week after they gave birth to a newborn baby. Perfect Plants co-owner Alex Kantor, also brother-in-law to Ciera Rowan and uncle to the family’s three children, recently helped organize an emergency GoFundMe campaign to raise $35,000 for home repairs, new baby items, transportation, medical expenses and more to collect critical items needed for recovery after category 3 storm.

When Hurricane Idalia swept across Valdosta, Georgia, the Rowan’s hometown, high winds threw a tree right into their home. The fallen tree hit the living room, one of their three children’s bedrooms, the children’s bedroom and both of the family’s vehicles. In addition to the physical destruction of the family home, the loss of Mr. Rowan’s truck prevents him from running his small business, which is vital to the supply of food.

“The birth of a new baby is a delicate time for any family, which makes the destruction of Idalia even more devastating for the Rowans, who are also unable to run their small business while they recover from the hurricane,” Alex said Kantor, co-owner of Perfect Plants. “We are so grateful for the community support so far – donations big and small are greatly appreciated and are a big part of getting this young family back on their feet.”

All donations raised on the GoFundMe site go directly to the Rowan family to immediately pay for home repairs, lost belongings, living expenses, medical treatments and transportation.

“Communities throughout the South are absorbing devastating losses of all types and sizes, making any support all the more effective,” Kantor continued. “By coming together to show the Rowans and other families in their situation that they are not alone, we can be a beacon of hope that is changing the lives of the victims of Idalia for the better – one donation and one portion at a time .”

Donations of any size are very welcome. Whenever possible, the Kantors and the Perfect Plants team ask donors to share the page with friends, family, churches and community groups to raise awareness and encourage support for the Rowans and their three young children.
