A minimum of three lifeless to date on Georgia’s streets throughout the New 12 months holidays

At least three people have died in accidents on Georgian roads during these long New Year holidays. On Friday lunchtime, the State Department of Public Security reported deaths in Forest Park, Smyrna and Gwinnett.

The 78-hour vacation trip begins on Thursday, December 30th at 6 p.m. and ends on Sunday, January 2 at 11:59 p.m.

Law enforcement agencies remind drivers that the officers are on duty, monitoring the streets for unsafe and drunk drivers.

“As more and more people are out on the streets to visit family and friends, soldiers and officers will continue to focus on drivers who violate state traffic laws and have bad driving habits that can potentially lead to serious injuries or fatal accidents,” said Col. Chris Wright, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

14 people were killed in 11 fatal accidents during the 78-hour vacation trip for the last New Year celebrations. In addition, police officers and officers issued over 8,300 summonses, over 9,900 warnings, and arrested more than 375 people for driving under the influence of alcohol.

If you are planning on having a New Year’s drink, make sure you have a sober driver, hiring a cab or rideshare, friend or family member to get you home safely.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, at least 16 people were killed in accidents on Georgian roads over the long Christmas break.
