A 26-year-old police officer was shot dead early Saturday morning while working his first shift for the Alamo Police Department in Wheeler County, Georgia, authorities said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is looking for a suspect, spokeswoman Natalie Ammons said at a press conference on Saturday.

Officer Dylan Harrison, who was also a full-time agent for the Oconee Drug Task Force in Eastman, Georgia, leaves a woman and a 6-month-old child.

The GBI identified the suspect as Alamo’s 43-year-old Luke Ferguson. A reward of $ 17,500 was offered for clues leading to his arrest.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp offered condolences to Harrison’s family and wrote on Twitter, “One of our law enforcement officers in Middle Georgia was killed on duty this morning. Our thoughts and prayers go with the family, friends and colleagues of this policeman in the Alamo Police Department. “
