July is here and that means celebrations on July fourth, beach days … and new laws?
Yes, that's right. Brian Kemp, Governor of Georgia, recently signed 709 legal bills, and these laws will be in force on July 1, 2024.
We have only broken down a few for you in relation to new criminal laws and a new law on the facilitation of student loans. Here is what to know:
Criminal law
Steal
A new law that came into force on July 1, 2024 makes it illegal, an animal and everyone who does this to be guilty of crime. The law also states that punishment is a prison sentence for at least two years, but up to 15 and a fine of $ 10,000.
However, if the farm animal market value is 100 US dollars or less, the person of an offense of “high and severe nature” will be guilty.
Drag racing
If you are a repeated illegal drag racing driver, you will be suspended with a new law of Georgia, which started on July 1, 2024, with greater and more serious charges. In the law, the repetition persons between 750 and 7,500 US dollars are occupied and prison period has also increased. Repetitional offenders are faced with no less than 90 days, possibly up to five years.
Repeated criminals of the drag racing could also be confronted before a temporary loss of their license.
Student loan relief
For peace officers
Another new law that applies on July 1 will enable the peace officers to calculate the facilitating of student loans. Peace officers currently have to be busy to use the relief. Peace officers must conclude an agreement with the Georgia Student Finance Authority, and the total number of loan must not exceed 20,000 US dollars in order to be entitled.
For mental health and substance consumption workers
Licessed mental health and substance experts can receive the facilitating of student loans from July 1st. To get the relief, employees must present their credit information to the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce. The board pays the employees in installments of 12 months at once.
