Hyundai to expand the work in Georgia, which is affected by an immigration attack with USD 2.7 billion investment

Atlanta, GA. (Atlanta News First) – About two weeks after the immigration authorities had imprisoned hundreds of South Korean nationals to manufacture Hyundai in Georgia, the car manufacturer announced that the same work would be expanded.

The Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Ellabell, Georgia – about 20 miles northwest of Savannah – is to produce 500,000 units by 2028. The expansion includes an investment of 2.7 billion US dollars and will create 3,000 other jobs.

José Muñoz, CEO of Hyundai, said that the company wanted to produce more than 80% of the cars sold in Germany by 2030. Several car manufacturers follow similar steps after President Donald Trump announced steep car channels to promote domestic production.

My explanation of the announcement of Hyundai that you invest 2.7 billion US dollars more in our state and create another 3,000 jobs for hard -working Georgians:

“Congratulations to @hmnnewsroom on this announcement, which reinforces your commitment to this project and our state. We'll see each other …

– Governor Brian P. Kemp (@govkemp) September 18, 2025

In a statement, Georgia congratulated Governor Brian Kemp Hyundai on the project.

“We look forward to working with you in the coming years about your ongoing growth and success!” he wrote.

On September 5, Ice carried out an attack on the production of Southeast Georgia and stated about 475 people. In a charter plane, more than 300 South Korean workers were blown back to their home country last week.

The incident caused an alarm in South Korea, whose citizens saw videos of workers who were captivated with chains around their hands, ankles and waist.

“The business activities of our investors and the rights of our nationals must not be wrongly violated in the process of pursuit of the US criminal proceedings,” said Lee Jawoong, spokesman for the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a television declaration from Seoul.

Officials of the homeland protection investigations said that the RAID was due to a month -long examination of the allegations of illegal attitude at the location. According to the lawyers of the workers, they were in the country to install parts of the factory that American workers do not have through the training.

Since then, Kemp has requested a reversal of the USVISA system.
