14-year-old girl disappears on last day of school, Georgia family says ‘Come back home’

A Georgia teen has been missing for more than a week after completing her final exams, her family told news outlets.

Now they are asking the public for help to bring them home.

Ashley Nevaeh Bell, 14, was last seen after classes at Parkview High School in Lilburn on May 24, WXIA reported. She left around 10 a.m. and has not been seen or heard from since.

“She’s quiet, she’s a little antisocial, so she’s going to be in her own world a lot,” Ashley’s father, Remon Bell, told WAGA. “She’s a player … it’s very, very different for her to go spontaneously.”

Bell said Ashley and her sister should go together after the exams, according to WSB-TV. When her sister got to the parking lot, she found Ashley’s laptop under the car and her debit card on the windshield, he told police.

Gwinnett County Schools officials said surveillance video showed the freshman leaving campus, though it’s not clear where she went, WSB-TV reported.

According to WAGA, county police are investigating her disappearance.

McClatchy News reached out to Gwinnett County Public Schools on June 4 and awaited a response.

According to GoFundMe, family members said Ashley was last seen in a white shirt, brown pants and black and white Converse shoes.

The teen’s father said he thinks his daughter may have been lured away by someone she met online, WAGA reported.

“We really think she just talked to someone through an app and became friends with them and then they lured her out,” Remon Bell told the broadcaster. “Because she never does anything like that.”

Ashley’s family have since publicly pleaded for her safe return.

“If you’re watching, come home,” her father told WSB-TV. “Nobody’s mad at you. We love you.”

Lilburn is about 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
